(II) ₹1,500 crore shall be used to provide inter-corporate loans as to provide yield of 12%. (III) ₹1,500 crore shall be used to buy back its own equity shares having face value of ₹10 each at a price of ₹3,000 per share (present market price of ₹2,400 per share) being 10% of the paid up equity share capital of the company by way of tender route wherein promoters also intend to participate. (IV) ₹500 crore were allocated to a team which will actively participate in capital and commodity market to generate a return of 15%: (iv) Call option of Honda Ltd. at the strike price of ₹3,500 was sold for ₹46 for 1,00,000 shares. Put option for equivalent number of shares at the same strike price was also sold for ₹54. At the end of the month the price was settled at ₹3,640. Calculate profit/loss in the transaction.

Answer & Explanation:

Proposal IV(d)(iv) - Honda Ltd. Options Sold Call Option: Call Option of Honda Ltd. at the Strike Price of ₹3,500 sold @ ₹46 for 1,00,000 shares. Price Settled @ ₹3,640. Since settlement price (₹3,640) is above strike price (₹3,500), the call option is exercised. Amount Per Option to be paid = ₹3,640 - ₹3,500 = ₹140 Loss Per Option = ₹140 (amount paid) - ₹46 (premium received) = ₹94 Loss of 1,00,000 Shares = 1,00,000 x ₹94 = ₹94,00,000 Sold Put Option: Put Option of Honda Limited at Strike Price of ₹3,500 sold @ ₹54 for 1,00,000 shares. Since the price settled at ₹3,640, which is above the strike price (₹3,500), the put option expires worthless for the buyer. No money was to be paid after the out option. Profit Per Option = ₹54 (premium received) Profit on Put Option = 1,00,000 x ₹54 = ₹54,00,000 Net Loss on this Transaction Profit on Put Option = ₹54,00,000 Loss on Call Option = ₹94,00,000 Net Loss on this Transaction = ₹40,00,000
