Answer & Explanation:

Section 161 of Motor Vehicles Act, 1988 talks about compensation in case of "Hit and Run" Motor Accident. Section 161(b) has defined 'Hit and Run Motor Accident' as an accident arising out of the use of a Motor Vehicle or Motor Vehicles, the identify whereof cannot be ascertained in spite of reasonable efforts for the purpose. The compensation (solarium) payable under this section is as under: Fixed sum of ₹50,000 (earlier it was ₹25000) in respect of death of any person resulting from Hit and Run Accident. A fixed sum of ₹25,000 (earlier it was ₹12500) in respect of grievous hurt to any person resulting from Hit and Run Motor Accident. Compensation known as solarium is payable out of solarium fund established by Central government with effect from 1st October 1982. The Indian insurers would now pay compensation as per the scheme framed by the central government.
