An arbitration award is required to be registered.

Answer & Explanation:

Arbitration Award is a determination on the merits by an arbitration tribunal in arbitration, and is analogous to the judgment in the Court of Law. The general requisites of an arbitration award are: it must be consistent with the submission; it must be certain; it must be fair to the parties; it must be final; its implementation must be possible. However, as per Arbitration and Conciliation Act, 1996 an arbitration award is not required to be registered. But The Registration Act, 1908 provides that if any non-testamentary document 'purports or operates to create, declare, assign limit or extinguish..., any title, right or interest' in any immovable property, the same is required to be registered and if it is not, it is invalid. Hence, if an award purports to impact any immovable property it is required to be registered.
