State the exclusions as regards a fire insurance policy.
Answer & Explanation:
A Fire Insurance Policy usually does not cover a certain amount known as "Excess" under the policy. The policy also excludes damage caused by war and war like operations, nuclear perils, pollution or contamination, electrical/mechanical breakdown, burglary and house breaking. Certain perils like earth quake and spontaneous combustion can be covered on payment of additional premium. Fire Insurance policies are issued for one year except for dwellings, where a policy may be issued for long term (with minimum period of three years), and the premium for the entire duration should be paid in advance subject to the discounts available as per the policy provisions.
