Four major capabilities of Decision Support Systems (DSS) are given as follows: Representations: It includes the presentation of the information in the form of graphs, charts, lists, reports, formatted reports, symbols, etc. These results are being used for control mechanism. Operations: It includes logical & mathematical manipulation of data. These operations are confined to gathering information, generating statistics, preparing reports, assigning risk and values, generating alternatives using simulation etc. Memory aids: It also provides updating of databases and memory, viewing of data, work spaces, libraries and linkages among libraries and work places. Control aids: It provides the facility to user to control the activity of DSS. It includes a language permitting user control of operations, representations and memory. It also include features such as tutorials, help commands, functions keys, conventions etc.
