Distinguish between the following: UDP and ICMP
Answer & Explanation:
User Datagram Protocol (UDP): The User Datagram Protocol (UDP) is a member of TCP/IP protocol suit. Unlike TCP, UDP is a connectionless communication protocol- meaning that UDP datagrams can be sent without establishing a connection between two devices, allowing them to be sent without consideration for rate or sequence. The UDP with IP sent small amounts of information and of course lacks flow control and error recovery functions. Internet Control Message Protocol (ICMP): The Internet Control Message Protocol (ICMP) is a supporting protocol in the TCP/IP suits and used by network devices, including routers, to send error messages and operational information indicating success or failure when communicating with another IP address. For instance, an error is indicated when a requested service is not available or that a host or router could not be reached. ICMP differs from TCP and UDP in that it is not typically used to exchange data between systems, nor is it regularly employed by end-user network applications with the exception of some diagnostic tools ping and trace route commands.
