Write short notes on the followings: Role of Stock Broker

Answer & Explanation:

Role of Stock Broker Stock Broker means a person having trading rights in any recognised stock exchange and includes a trading member. A stock broker plays a very important role in the secondary market helping both the seller and the buyer of the securities to enter into a transaction. The buyer and seller may be either a broker or a client. When executing an order, the stock broker may on behalf of his client buy or sell securities from his own account i.e. as principal or act as an agent. For each transaction he has to issue necessary contract note indicating whether the transaction has been entered into by him as a principal or as an agent for another. While buying or selling securities as a principal, the stock broker has to obtain the consent of his client and the prices charged should be fair and justified by the conditions of the market. Stock broker may also act as an underwriter.
